MOVES 40,000 PEOPLE TO PEACHTREE ROAD RACE
ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid
Transit Authority (MARTA) moved approximately 40,000 people for the 54th AJC Peachtree
Road Race, on Tuesday, July 4.
“I’m
always proud to see MARTA perform well during major events like the Peachtree
Road Race,” said MARTA General Manager and CEO Collie Greenwood. “For decades,
we’ve provided the best option for getting to and from the race, and this year
was no different. It’s another example of how we’re able to make special days
like this possible by moving tens of thousands of riders across the region
safely and efficiently.”
MARTA began rail service at 4 a.m. to
ensure participants could get to the starting line with plenty of time to
spare. MARTA bus shuttles ran between Lindbergh Center Station and the race
starting line, and bus shuttles ran continuously from Piedmont Park to
Lindbergh Center after the race for participants who wanted to give their feet
a rest!
For the first time, MARTA fare stickers
were included in 1,300 early bird race packets for participants to affix to
their bib for easy travel on race day. MARTA sold an additional 2,300
round-trip fare stickers at the Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo. MARTA’s
Breeze Mobile 2.0 was also used thousands of times yesterday. Click here to
