MARTA POLICE HELP FAMILIES IN NEED DURING HOLIDAY
SEASON
Officers Distribute Toys, Clothes, and Food at
Christmas Luncheon
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Police Department helped brighten the holidays for several families by donating toys and other gifts during a private luncheon on Thursday, December 20 at police headquarters. Officers celebrated with the families by enjoying a
holiday meal together and handing out Christmas presents.
The families were hand-selected by officers on patrol in the communities they serve and the officers paid for the gifts out of their own pockets.
“Our officers embrace community policing and really take the time to get to know our customers,” said MARTA Police Chief Wanda Y. Dunham. “When they recognize someone is in need, they make every effort to help them in any way they can. I am proud of the men and women of the
MARTA Police Department every day, but I am especially proud of their generosity during the holiday season.”
The holiday luncheon and toy giveaway has been an annual tradition for the MARTA Police Department during the Christmas season. Sergeant Rasheeda Darby oversees MPD’s Community Outreach program.
