MARTA PARTNERS WITH DEKALB COUNTY
TO ENCOURAGE COVID-19 VACCINATIONS

Message Shared on Buses, Convenient Vaccination Site Remains Open at
Doraville Station
ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) today joined forces with jurisdictional partner DeKalb County and CEO Michael Thurmond to stress the importance of getting the COVID-19 vaccine. The county’s media campaign “Get Vaxxed DeKalb”
will be prominently displayed on buses that provide service throughout the county.
“The vaccination efforts happening in DeKalb County are vital in protecting people from the virus and its variants and we are eager to support this campaign and help spread the word in any way we can,” said MARTA General Manager and CEO Jeffrey Parker. “The vaccine is safe, free, and
readily available in DeKalb and the entire metro Atlanta area. Getting it is how we can protect each other and get back to some sense of normal.”
“We are grateful to MARTA for their continued partnership in our efforts to get DeKalb County residents vaccinated,” said DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond. “We encourage everyone to get vaxxed!”
MARTA continues its efforts to support vaccination to protect public health. Beginning Monday, Oct. 4, MARTA will require all employees, 1,026 of whom reside in DeKalb, provide proof of vaccination, or submit to weekly COVID-19 testing. MARTA will have an onsite clinic
to make it convenient for employees to get vaccinated.
Additionally, a COVID-19 vaccination site at Doraville Station on the Gold Line is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. You can register and schedule an appointment by visiting

MARTA and DeKalb worked together in the early months of the pandemic, opening a COVID-19 testing site at Brookhaven Station, and partnering with DeKalb Human Services to provide a bus shuttle to food pantries that couldn’t be reached due to reduced bus service.
