Gwinnett
Transit Vote

Overview

Gwinnett County is experiencing tremendous population growth with no end in sight, and in about 20 years it will be the most populated county in Georgia. Today’s traffic will be no match for the gridlock of tomorrow.

That’s why your county leaders invite you to vote to join the MARTA network and bring more transportation options to Gwinnett County. We’ve put together some information to help you learn more about the March 19 vote and more about MARTA.

Hear from Jeff Parker

Hear from MARTA GM/CEO Jeff Parker about the upcoming vote to bring more transit options to Gwinnett County and the region.

Did you know metro Atlanta is one of the fasting growing regions in the entire country? The big question is how to prepare for all that growth and maintain our quality of life. At the 2019 State of MARTA breakfast, Jeff outlined a path forward.

Ballot Question

You’re voting for Gwinnett County to use MARTA to make transit more convenient for people who live in or visit Gwinnett. All Gwinnett transit projects will be funded by a penny sales tax.

Here’s the question you’ll see on the ballot: “Gwinnett County has executed a contract for the provision of transit services, dated as of August 2, 2018. Shall this contract be approved? YES __ NO __”

If a majority vote yes, Gwinnett County will implement its Connect Gwinnett transportation plan by joining the MARTA system that includes the City of Atlanta, and Clayton, DeKalb, and Fulton counties.

Early Voting

Early voting is Monday, Feb. 25 through Friday, March 15. Election Day is Tuesday, March 19.

Seven early voting locations conveniently located across the county will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Election Day, you must vote at your regular voting precinct. As long as you are in line by 7 p.m., you will be allowed to vote.
